Ford is having quite the year. The automaker is revealing or launching not one, not two, but three next-generation utility vehicles in 2022. Of course, we've already seen the all-new Ranger, and the next-gen Everest will follow on March 1st, but the 2023 Ranger Raptor appeared to be missing in action—until now, that is.
Raptor fans, rejoice. Ford has officially unveiled the next-gen Ranger Raptor, and it says it's the most powerful Ranger ever built. In a short reveal video, Ford naturally took the Raptor off-roading as it showcased the pickup truck's latest form.
The Raptor looks properly menacing in red paint, plus the redesigned front end looks more in line with the F-150 and Ranger. We also saw some expected upgrades, including FOX shocks and what appears to be a more comprehensive drive mode selector. The interior also seems to have Raptor-specific trim, but we've yet to see a closeup look to judge the cabin in its entirety.
Ford claims this model is the most capable Ranger ever, but what makes it so? While we don't know the exact power figure yet, the most powerful version of the truck currently puts out 269 hp. That's from a 2.3-liter turbo, so going up in power could mean upgrading to a V6.
If that's the case, the 2023 Ranger Raptor could pack around or even upwards of 300 horsepower. On top of that, some international reports have indicated that the upcoming truck is slightly lighter than its predecessor. In the local market, however, Ford Philippines could still retain the single turbo and Bi-Turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine options.
In any case, we'll get all the details on the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor as it inches closer to its release date late this year or next year. For now, Raptor fans who can't wait to get a massive, capable pickup truck can still get their hands on the current-gen model, which starts at P2,038,000.
