The 5-door Suzuki Jimny will arrive in 2022 as reported by the Japanese website, MOTA. Its stretched-out version shall bring more power and better practicality while still retaining its off-roading DNA.
The Jimny’s small dimensions will be extended by 300 mm, which means the miniature off-roader will have more space allowing it to carry up to 5 passengers. Its cargo area might also be increased compared to the 4-seater. Both the short- and long-wheelbase will also share a number of familiar design cues, perhaps its extended sibling could have some exclusive appointments such as a unique grille and machined-face alloy wheels in order to properly distinguish it from the crowd.
Recently, Japan-based website, MOTA, reported that the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will arrive in 2022. Aside from its stretched-up wheelbase, Suzuki’s small wonder will have a more potent turbocharged gasoline engine that’s coupled with a fuel-saving mild-hybrid electrical system. While figures of the said mill remain unknown for now, it should be enough to compensate for the 5-door Jimny’s extra weight.
More information regarding the model has surfaced these past months. In prior leaks, the dimensions of the 5-door version will reportedly measure at 3,850 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width, 1,730 mm in height, and 2,550 mm for its wheelbase. This means that the upcoming model will retain the majority of dimensions from its 3-door counterpart except for its length and wheelbase that are both stretched to accommodate the two extra doors for the second-row seats.
The 5-door Suzuki Jimny is slated by the end of 2022. Then again, the Japanese automaker has not yet released any official statements regarding the stretched-out model, therefore, MOTA’s report remains unconfirmed for now. That said, let’s cross our fingers on this and hope for a proper confirmation from Suzuki.
